Collections
Collections Overview
Collections are a folder-esque way of organizing files. But unlike a normal folder, files can be in many collections. Assigning files to collections is a method of organizing files that's similar to folders.

Collections are a folder-esque way of organizing files. But unlike a normal folder, files can be in many collections. Assigning files to collections is a method of organizing files that’s similar to folders.

Because files can exist in multiple collections, this can be a more effective method of sorting files.

For example, you can create collection folders for files relating to the Dashboard Interface and the Authoring Interface. You can then assign files to these collections, and even have files exist in both collections:

Collection Interfaces

You can configure your collections in the Administration interface of the Dashboard :
Note:You must be an Administrator to access the Administration interface.

Once your collections are configured, you can use the Properties Tab to assign a file to collections.

  1. In the Dashboard interface, click Collections .

    Expected Result
    The Collections interface displays.

  2. In the Collections pane, right-click an existing collection.

    Expected Result
    A context menu displays.

  3. Do one of the following:

    • To insert a new collection term below the selected collection, click Create Term Below .
    • To insert a child collection term below the selected collection, click Create Narrower Term .
    Expected Result
    A new term is created and named Unnamed 1.

  4. In the Label field , enter a name for the collection.
  5. Click Save .
  6. (Optional) Create additional collections.
  7. Click Save all changes .

A collection and its terms are created.

Assigning Files to Collections

Use the Properties Tab in the Resource Viewer to assign files to collections so they can organized and found later.
  1. In the Content Manager , right-click a file and select Properties .

    The Properties Tab in the Resource Viewer displays.

  2. In the Add to collections field, select the collections you want to assign the file to.

  3. Click Save Changes .

The file is assigned to collections.

Deleting Collections

Delete collection terms that you no longer need.
Note:You must be an Administrator to access the Administration interface.

  1. In the Dashboard interface, click Collections .

    Expected Result
    The Collections interface displays.

  2. In the Collections pane, right-click an existing collection.

    Expected Result
    A context menu displays.

  3. Select Remove Term .

The collection term and its narrower terms are deleted.
