Setting Reusable Content in a Warehouse Topic

Use warehouse topics to contain reusable elements, such as notes, steps, or other content.
  1. In the Content Library , navigate to the location where you want to create a warehouse topic.

    Step Information
    Note:We recommend creating warehouse topics in a Global_Shared folder to make it easy to find and update reusable content.
    Expected Result
    You’re in the location in your Content Library where you want to create a warehouse topic.
  2. Click Create New and select a topic type. 

    Step Information
    Use a Default Topic for most warehouse content.
    Use a Default Task for a Steps Warehouse.
    Expected Result
    The Create New window displays.
  3. Enter a Title and File name.
  4. Click Create & Edit .

    The topic opens in the Topic Editor .
  5. Insert the element you want to reuse.

    Example
    For example, insert a note element to create a reusable note.
  6. In the element, enter the text you want to display.

    Example
    For example, enter Read all instructions before you begin using this product.
  7. Right-click the element that you created.

    Expected Result
    The context menu displays.
  8. Select Make Reuseable (Set ID) , then select the element you want to reuse.

    Example
    For a note, select Make Reusable (set ID) -> Note .
    Expected Result
    The Set id dialog displays. By default, an ID is automatically assigned.
  9. In the Id field, enter a unique ID for the element. Choose an ID that relates to the element because it’s used to identify the element for reuse.

  10. Click Set .

You’ve created a reusable element and assigned an ID to it so it can be reused.
