DITAVals

DITAVals enable you to manage the content that displays based on filters applied to content.
DITAVals are files that contain rules. You can configure DITAVals to include or exclude content based on the Filtering Properties set on the content.
Filtering Properties include:
  • Platform

  • Product

  • Audience

  • Other Props

So, you can create a DITAVal file that exclude content when “audience=novice”. So, any content set with the Audience property as “novice” will not display.
You can set Filtering Properties on elements in a topic. For more information, see Filtering Elements in a Topic.
And you can set Filtering Properties on elements in a Map. For more information, see Filtering Entire Topics or Sections of a Map.
Creating a DITAVal File

Create a DITAVal file to filter content.
You want to create a DITAVal file.
  1. Click Create New .

    Expected Result
    The Create New drop-down menu displays.
    Note:Available options vary based on your configuration.

  2. Select DITAVal.

    Expected Result
    The Create new window displays.
  3. Enter a File name.
  4. (Optional) By default, the file is created in the current folder. To create the file in a different folder, click Change and select a new location.
  5. (Optional) To assign the file to a collection, select Collections.
  6. (Optional) To assign metadata to the file, select Metadata.
You’ve created a DITVal file to filter your content with. Now, you’re ready to start Applying a DITAVal Filter to Content.
Applying a DITAVal Filter to Content

Apply a DITAVal file and filter conditional content.
You’re in the Content Manager and want to add a DITAVal filter.
  1. In the Context Map drop-down menu, select Add a ditaval filter.

    The Select Ditaval Filter window displays.
  2. Navigate to and select the DITAVal file.
  3. Click Select.
The DITAVal file filters conditional content. Ccontent in the topic that is filtered as excluded will not display.
