Map Editor Overview
The Map Editor interface enables you to interact with maps.
The Map Editor consists of two main areas, the Map Editor Pane and the Map Preview Tab. When a map is open, the Map Editor Pane is docked on the left, while the Content Manager is shifted to the right. Together, the Map Editor and Content Manager are an integrated authoring interface.
Map Editor Pane
The Map Editor Pane is located on the left. You can use it to edit the structure and elements of a map.
To Save, Close, Publish, or Create New files in the map, use the following buttons:
Right-clicking an element in the Map Editor Pane opens the context menu, enabling you to edit the elements in the map.
You can use the context menu to perform the following tasks:
|Edit topic||Opens the topic in the Topic Editor.|
|Edit element attributes||Opens the Properties window to edit the attributes of the selected element.|
|Edit element XML||Opens the Source window to edit the element XML.|
|Show file in Content Manager||Opens the Content Manager and highlights the selected file.|
|Remove element||Removes the element from the map.|
|Append element||Inserts an available map element as a child of the selected element.|
|Insert element before||Inserts an available map element before the selected element.|
|Insert element after||Inserts an available map element after the selected element.|
|Expand all nodes||Displays all child elements of the selected element.|
|Collapse all nodes||Hides all child elements of the selected element.|
By default, the Content Manager displays when a map is opened. To access the Map Preview Tab, click Preview.
The Map Preview Tab enables you to navigate and preview topics within the map.
You can click Previous or Next to navigate the files, or click Edit to open the topic in the Topic Editor.
